Going Home

Going Home is a short film about Chuck and Alice Johnstone’s return to the wilderness area they spent their lives fighting to protect. Both now in their late 80s, the couple has dreamed of a return journey and this summer the Sitka Conservation Society made that dream a reality. It was a touching experience to be with them on the trip and I thank them for all of their work and dedication to wilderness protection.

Living Wilderness Fund

Over the past four months I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with the Sitka Conservation Society on a number of incredible projects. Wilderness protection and advocacy is one of SCS’s founding values and this is a video we produced to help promote their endowment fund. It was a blast to make and I was able to show off some of the amazing places we traveled this summer!

“The Way You Do” – Music Video

Music By Jake Owen
www.jakeowen.com

Lately I’ve been been involved in so many projects that seem to drag on endlessly. This includes projects of my own that somehow seem to never see the light of day due to meeting the unfortunate fate dealt to them by the ego-sensitive perfectionist editor in my head. The goal of this track and video was to simply see how quickly Ben and I could get something presentable out to the world that made us feel like we got something done with a couple of days work. It was recorded and shot late April 2011, audio at my home studio, video on location at a Zilker Park sunrise. Special thanks to Phoebe Hunt for the background vocals, Andy Dollerson for the keys, and Ben Hamilton for the patience.

Echoes of the Tongass

Echoes of the Tongass brings to light the story of the struggle to save Alaska’s wilderness. Set in the mid-twentieth century, the film follows a group of locals as they strive to start the first conservation organization in Southeast Alaska. Faced with criticism from the public, and threats from the workforce, the group shows the true meaning of dedication and gives a new value to the wilderness area they fought for. With its simple inspiring message, Echoes of the Tongass shines as a beacon of hope and sets the example for success in the current environmental struggle.

This film was made by Pioneer Videography in collaboration with the Sitka Conservation Society.
